What is carob?

Carob flour or locust bean gum is mainly found in the Mediterranean and is perfect as a cocoa substitute.

Carob is also used in many products instead of cocoa. In pasta, sprinkles and chocolate bars, for example, the cocoa is replaced by carob.

Carob is naturally quite sweet and has, in comparison with cacao, a much lower percentage of fat. It also contains more dietary fibre, which has a good effect on the digestion.

For people who are allergic to cocoa, carob is a good replacement.
